Mental Health Inpatient Reconfiguration

Over the last 10 years Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust has been improving its inpatient mental health services and increasing the support which people can access in the community. This has involved relocating wards which are no longer fit for purpose into new purpose designed facilities in four Lancashire localities.

Two of these have been completed and are operational:

  • Fylde Coast, The Harbour is the Trust’s flagship facility and provides 154 beds from Blackpool
  • The Orchard, provides 18 beds from Lancaster.

HSIS is proud to be providing the project management for the next phase of this major reconfiguration. This includes:

  • The provision of an inpatient service from Chorley Hospital providing 30 beds.  This service will be operational by Autumn 2018
  • The re-development of the Hillview facility at Royal Blackburn Hospital to provide an inpatient service for Pennine Lancashire from here and the Pendleview facility. This service will be operational by Autumn 2018.

These developments will provide a much improved environment for people accessing inpatient mental health services with improved facilities that promote recovery and an excellent patient experience.
