HSIS to Support Development of New Mother and Baby Unit

Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust is one of only 4 Trusts in England to have been selected to provide a new perinatal inpatient service and HSIS is delighted to be providing the project management for this development which will be operational by the end of summer 2018.

This is an important development for the Trust and for both expectant and new mums living in Lancashire who require mental health provision. This new facility will mean that mum and baby can be cared for together by specialist staff within their home county instead of having to travel to receive this specialist care or being separated from their baby.

The facility is to be co-located with existing maternity services and mental health services, with Chorley Hospital site providing the ideal location. The existing building facades will be refurbished and include a new feature garden to the front of the building.

Internally the existing facility will undergo a complete refurbishment to bring it up to Trust’s safe standards for both staff and service users. The unit will provide eight bedrooms with en-suites, communal dining and day space areas, sensory and quite rooms along with a separate nursery.

"These are exciting times for both Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust and HSIS. We’re delighted to be working in partnership to deliver these much needed specialist care units."
